Phone Habits
Phone While Parenting
Be present for your kids instead of half-there.
Why This Habit Is Harmful
Kids notice when your eyes are on a screen instead of them. "Phubbing" your children teaches them that devices matter more and models the very distraction you may later scold them for. Moments you cannot get back slip by behind the glass.
How to Break It
- 1Set phone-free windows during key parenting times.
- 2Keep the phone in a drawer when kids are home from school.
- 3If you must use it, narrate: "I need 2 minutes for work."
- 4Create a family "devices away" meal rule.
- 5Notice when you scroll instead of engaging.
Healthier Replacement
When with your kids, put the phone away and join their play or talk. Presence is the gift they remember.
